The Initiative of Black People in Germany (ISD) held the 2nd European networking event from November 8th – 9th 2014.
130 years after the Congo conference, Black European advocacy groups gathered in Berlin.
Based on a set of demands, compiled by Black representatives from European countries, the meeting was set up to establish sustainable links and networks between interest groups in order to further mutual empowerment and access to policy tools. By doing so participants are enabled to compile palpable measures for an improvement of the situation of People of African Descent in Europe. The event was also designed to enhance the visibility of racism related issues in Europe and promote a sustainable fight against anti-Black racism.
This meeting strategically developed the Network by dividing it into three stakeholder Working Groups focused on specific tasks and each with a designated team leader:
- Action Team
- Advocacy Team
- PR & Web team
During the 2nd Network Meeting the name European Network of People of African Descent (ENPAD) was also established.
